Case Study 1 Harrison Gibson Building Ilford.

The site
The Harrison Gibson building in High Road, Ilford is a former furniture store which has been empty and falling into a derelict state for some time. A developer has sought permission to build 330 flats on the site but is still under discussion at the local authority. The building has been covered with debris netting due to the aging concrete panel cladding potentially becoming loose.

The problem
The building’s current partially demolished appearance has prompted concerns at the local authority and the owners about vandalism, theft, and rough sleeping. They wanted a solution that would identify attempts to gain entry to the site and alert guards.

How Ace Defence helped

Working in conjunction with guarding provider PPS (UK) Ltd, Ace Defence visited the site to assess the requirements and installed a twelve-camera video surveillance system that protects each point of entry into the building. This system is monitored round the clock from our central monitoring station and appropriate action is taken when the system is activated.

The Outcome
A persistent problem with a rough sleeper has been mitigated by the presence of round the clock monitoring. Utilities providers have been able to safely access the site to carry out inspections and meter readings. The condition of the scaffolding and netting can also be reviewed remotely via the video system.

Steve says…
A complex site with many potential issues is now covered by an extensive camera network, meaning stakeholders have a clear oversight of any problems.
