The site
Pizza Express closed seventy-three of its restaurants in 2021 as part of a post Covid rationalisation programme, including the site in High Street Kingston Upon Thames.
The problem
With the building empty it was exposed to break ins aimed theft of metals and the remaining fixtures. It was also a target for rough sleepers, and opportunist vandalism.

How Ace Defence helped.
We worked with PPS (UK) Ltd who had the contract to secure the building and provide a guard response service. A four-camera system was installed which covered interior and exterior including fire escapes and entrances. All cameras were situated internally and record no video from outside the premises, thereby avoiding any data privacy issues. PPS and Ace Defence are also responsible for building inspections and utility metre readings periodically.
The Outcome
The building is currently for sale and is being viewed by prospective purchasers and their agents. Our central monitoring station facilitates these visits by turning video off for the duration.
Steve says…
When a retail unit is vacant and for sale it needs to be maintained in good order. Our video surveillance systems support this by being able to alert the property owner to burst pipes, broken windows, or other potentially damaging incidents. All cameras are fitted internally so while they protect the property there is no video taken outside, avoiding any privacy and GDPR problems
